In 1973 to 1976, Carl practiced radiology as a Major in the Army at Fort Carson Army Medical Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1976, he joined the medical practice with Dr. George Ladd and Dr. Gary Evans as a Muskogee Radiological Group partner. During his time with the Radiological Group, Carl enjoyed providing medical care through the interpretation of x-rays, utilizing the technology of ultrasound, CT scanning, mammography, and plain films.

During his free time, Carl enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He also loved to travel and supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities.
