Mary Elizabeth (Walters) Bowden, 76, a lifelong resident of Fort Gibson, was born June 14, 1943 in Fort Gibson to Louis and Ethel (Rowan) Walters and entered Heaven's gates on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.
Mary received her formal education in Fort Gibson. She married her best friend, Joe Bowden on September 16, 1963 in Fort Gibson. Mary worked beside her husband in their family owned business. Bowden Pest Control was established in 1966 and is presently owned by her grandson, Lance and wife Lauren who have carried on the Bowden legacy. She was a faithful member of the Oasis Church formerly Grace Ministries in Muskogee and enjoyed upbeat Christian music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronnie Bowden and great granddaughter, Maven.
Mary is survived by her husband, Joe of the home; daughter, Helen Soto; grandchildren, Bethany Russell, Lance Bowden, Jennifer Voyles, Santo Soto III, Cecelia Soto and Katelyn Jochims; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www. act. alz. org in Mary's name.
A visitation will be held 5PM-7PM Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson.
Graveside services for Mary will be 10:30AM Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Citizens Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Gibson with Pastor Rodney Mattox officiating.
