Kenneth Ray Benton, 83, of Maynard Bay, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, June 29, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born May 17, 1937 in Muskogee to his parents Walter Benton and Lillie (Parton) Benton.
Ken was a United States Army veteran. He served April 30, 1958 to September 18, 1961, as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. He loved his family dearly. He raised his four children in Hominy, Oklahoma. He married Alberta "Billie" Long on May 22, 1982. He was a dear dad and grandpa to her two children and grandchildren.
He retired from GT & E in 1990 to become a poultry farmer for Hudson Farms at Spade Mt., Oklahoma. Then in 2003 he retired again to move to Mallard Bay. He enjoyed camping and building model cars and boats, and spending time with his family. Holiday meals and get-togethers were his favorite.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lillie Benton; foster dad, Donald Close; son, Michael Benton; sisters, Lucille Quesinberry and Cybil Hass; bother, Melvin "Buster" Benton.
He is survived by his wife Billie Benton of Mallard Bay, Oklahoma; foster mother, Francis Close of Okay. Oklahoma; children, Kennette Benton of Okay, Oklahoma, Donald Benton of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Thomas Benton of Muskogee, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law Rhonda Benton of Edmond, Oklahoma, Donna Rowell and husband Gene of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, David Long and wife Kristen of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Niki Benton of Mallard Bay, Oklahoma, Alex Dunne of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Avri Coker and husband Kele of Oceanside, California, Holly Benton of Edmond, Oklahoma, Autym Benton of Edmond, Oklahoma, Amos Rowell of Mallard Bay, Oklahoma, J.P Rowell of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Bethany Easterling of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Brittany Cantrell and husband Chris of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Jill Long of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Justin Long of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Kenneth's life will be 2:00pm Monday, July 6, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Apcock officiating. Interment will follow at Citizen's Cemetery in Fort Gibson with David, Brandon, Gene, Justin, Donald, and Thomas serving as Pallbearers.
