Alma (Craig) Carter
October 16, 1923 ~ October 18, 2008

In Huttonville, OK on October 16, 1923, Roy and Ada Nelson Craig were blessed with a daughter. She was given the name Alma.

Professing a belief in the Lord at a young age, Alma united with St. James Baptist Church in Beland, OK. After the close of St. James, she united with Black Jack Missionary Baptist Church where she was devoted and faithful member serving in various positions.

Alma married Mr. A.C. Carter on December 17, 1945. They spent sixty-two years and ten months together.

Alma retired after twenty-seven years of domestic service with the Taft Children’s Home. Alma was a hard working and dedicated person to her family church and friends.

She left us for heaven’s peace on October 18, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

The family members she leaves behind to thank the Lord for the celebration of her life are her husband A.C. Carter of the home. Step-daughter, Nettie Sanders (Lawrence) of Wichita, KS. One sister Emma B. Taylor of Muskogee, OK. Three brothers, Amos Craig and his companion of Detroit, MI, L’Arthur Craig of Summit, OK and Sidney Craig (Minnie) of Tulsa, OK. Two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Her close neighbors and friends The Farmers, Gary, Carol and Karri and Ernest Bray along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.

The going home service for Sister Alma will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Black Jack Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Roscoe Beasley, Pastor officiating.

She will rest eternally in Booker T. Washington Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be today from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

 Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
