This is the story of Karla Sue (Fowler) Walker. Mom was a simple woman that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. “Granny” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren and their friends was a wife, mom, daughter and a baker of chocolate chip cookies, cherry cobblers, and cinnamon rolls like no other. Mom was born in Seminole, OK on January 11, 1942 to James Ezekiel Fowler and Dora Lee Barker Fowler. She was the oldest of seven brothers and sisters. From an early age, Mom was caregiver and chief cook and bottle washer for a large and somewhat boisterous family. Her early life was spent with her family traveling up and down the west coast of the United States picking seasonal crops. The family would eventually put down roots and settle in Ada, OK where she met her future husband Bobbie Walker. Mom married Dad in Ada, Oklahoma on January 16, 1960. Their life together was not linear by any means. Mom epitomized the meaning of how one deals with the ups and downs of life is what defines you as a person. There was never a job too large or too small that she wouldn’t attempt to tackle. Daddy passed away on November 1, 1990 leaving behind a strong, determined and independent woman. Mom was devoted to her two children Darlene and Bobie. She was a loving Grandmother to her grandson Carl and his wife Jennifer, and her granddaughter, Jamie. She was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. As devoted as she was to us, we all knew that her great grandchildren were her heart and joy. There is no denying that her great grandchildren, Rayden and Jayden, her Grand Babies as she called them, were the people she loved the most. Time spent with Granny was very special. There was always pasta salad for Rayden and waffles and pancakes for Jayden at Granny’s house. Mom was a devoted Baptist and spent her time volunteering at Lavon Drive Baptist Church in the nursery where she had many babies to love and spoil. Many of the babies and their parents were treated to Granny’s chocolate chip cookies on Sunday after church.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Mom are her husband Bobbie Lee Walker, infant daughter Carmela Kay, her father James Ezekiel Fowler, her mother Dora Lee Barker Fowler, sisters Connie Fowler Gutherie and Sandra Fowler Atkison, and her brother Ricky Fowler.

Loved ones that will miss Mom until we meet again are her daughter Darlene Williford, her son Bobie Walker, her grandson and his wife Carl and Jennifer Williford, her granddaughter Jamie Price, great grandchildren Rayden Williford and Jayden Price, her brother and his wife Eddie and Cheryl Fowler, her brother Teddy Fowler and sister Terry Fowler.

Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Rowlett, Texas who provided invaluable care to Mom in her final day.
 
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate the life of Karla Sue Walker will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at DeArman Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur, Oklahoma with Pastor Kerby Richmon to officiate.

Interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Oklahoma.
