Kathryn Evonne "Kathy" Melton, 55, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, joined her Heavenly Father on April 25, 2011. Kathy was born May 5, 1955 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life Charles E. Melton. As a pastor’s wife, she faithfully served the Lord alongside her husband and was a member of Mayridge Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Kathy loved children and had worked as a preschool director. She was also a writer and had published stories and poems with LifeWay and Guidepost. Kathy won a contest with a story she had written about her son Jeff and also won Honorable Mention for one of her poems. She loved crocheting, camping and spending time with her six grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kathy was preceded in death by:
• Her grandparents, Frank and Flossie Taylor.

Survivors include:
• Her parents, Bristo and Edna Carter;
• Husband of 38 years, Charles Melton;
• Brother, David Carter;
• Sister, Mary Mixon;
• 3 children: Michelle and husband Matt Welch, Jeffrey and wife Sumer Melton, John and wife Tabitha Melton;
• 6 grandchildren: Bryan, Taylor, Aubrey, Samuel, Hannah, and Chloe.
