Graveside services for Alvern Leroy Holt, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 16, 2014 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under direction of Hale's Funeral Home.

Mr. Holt was born Sept 8, 1924 in Granada, CO to the late Solen C. & Lillie E. (Reed) Holt and died Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Sulphur, at the age of 89.
At the age of 15, he graduated from High school in Hope, KS. He enlisted on Feb 26, 1946 in Salina, KS and served with the US Navy during WWII . He was honorably discharged on Dec 19, 1952 at San Francisco, CA.
He was never an idle man and worked continually.  He often had more than one job at a time. For many years he drove a truck delivering mail between Sulphur, Ft. Sill and Oklahoma City. He owned and operated H&O Upholstery Shop in Sulphur for several years prior to retiring in 1996. In his spare time, he enjoyed volunteering his time at the Sulphur Senior Citizen Center and was a member of the local VFW.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Marge Campbell Holt in Feb, 1999; two sons, Billy Jerry Farrell & his wife Willa Dean and Johnny Alvern Holt; sister, Mildred Lardis; brother, Norman Holt; great-granddaughter, Micah Pierce; great-grandson, Joseph Luker; and son-in-law, Jimmie Fraley.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Fraley of Sulphur and Juanita Preast of Davis; son Michael Holt & wife Angelique of Davis; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; two brothers; Rosalee Holt & wife Twila of Talmage, KS and Larry Holt & wife Lois of Salina, KS; sister, Juaneta Whittington of CA; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. 

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Jake Gulla, Dakota Lewis, Skyler Betterton, Brysen Lamb, Maddux Betterton and Wyatt Parks.
