Charles Frank and Bessie Lora (Bayless) Clark. He died Friday, Jan.
23, 2015, in Sulphur at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Melvin and Marion Davis were married on Aug. 24, 1948, in Davis.
Melvin grew up in the Shawnee area where he graduated high school in
the mid-1940s. He then joined the U.S. Army and served in
Occupational Forces in Japan and the Philippines. After he was
honorably discharged, Melvin returned home and attended Oklahoma
Baptist University on the GI Bill. He transferred from OBU to the
University of Oklahoma where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1950
and in 1952 his master's in education. His first teaching job led
this young couple to Boise City, Oklahoma, then to Wayne, Oklahoma,
in the mid-1950s. From Wayne, they moved to Fredrick, Oklahoma, and
then in the summer of 1966, Melvin and Marion accepted teaching
positions at Sulphur.
Throughout his teaching career he taught high school and elementary
music. After retiring in 1986, Melvin volunteered his time playing
the keyboard at area nursing homes and senior citizens centers. For
his volunteerism, he received numerous citations, letters of
appreciation and recognitions. He also spent many hours of his
retirement teaching English to the area Hispanic population. Melvin
was quite the fitness enthusiast. He enjoyed jogging, lifting
weights and exercising. In his spare time he was an avid stamp
collector.

Clark and wife Michelle of Sulphur and Edward Alan Clark and wife
Connie of Bedford, Texas; five grandchildren, Janie Lynn Clark,
