DeArman Funeral Home
Wynnewood, OK
(permission granted)

Sister Margaret Leota Holcomb Anderson went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 at her home in Prairie View, OK, at the age of 88 yrs 11 mos 28 days.

She was born in Leedey, OK. To Orie and Edna (Enyart) Dobbs on August 4, 1931. She was married to Bart Holcomb for almost 40 years. They had three precious girls – Jo, Ginny, and Gail, known to many as the Holcomb Sisters. When their girls were very young, they toured the state sharing their gift of singing, and spent many Friday nights singing on The Country Social show. Margaret made sure to save every penny from her grocery money so that she could buy enough material to sew three brand new dresses every week for the girls to wear on TV. Margaret was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and from that day, her focus was to serve the Lord and serve the Brethren. She had an amazing gift of hospitality and her home was always open, and full of brethren. She was famous for the wonderful meals that filled her table, and was an expert baker. I know many would remember her cobblers, pies, and cinnamon rolls. Bart and Margaret’s home became known as the place to be on Sunday after church, because there would always be lots of food, love, laughs and beautiful gospel singing. Margaret also served the Brethren by helping to bring many of their children into the world as a midwife. She would travel to any state, and stay for as long as she needed. Being a midwife was a calling, but she also had many hobbies. Sewing was just one of her many talents. She gifted many quilts, wedding dresses, and crocheted afghans over the years. She was also well known for her huge gardens, and sharing her incredible canned vegetables, salsas, and jellies that came from her hard work. She loved to read her Bible, and lived until her last day sharing the Joy of the Lord. Nothing gave her more joy than taking care of others, and seeing her loved ones serve God.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Orie and Edna Dobbs, her first husband, Bart, two brothers, six sisters, her son-in-law Larry Jones, and two of her daughters – Jo and Gail.

Twenty-three years ago, Margaret was again blessed with a loving companion, Mike Anderson. They married in February of 1997. They spent most of their years together traveling the country, taking their RV to many different states and enjoying peaceful times around their campfire. She also saw much of the country from the back of a Goldwing, until just a few years ago. ‘Papa Mike’ was loved by all the grandkids, and all the kids from up and down the road. It was the highlight of Mike and Margaret’s day when any of kids would stop by to visit, and they also knew they would find the best popsicles there. Mike also loves gardening, so they continued growing wonderful food and sharing with everyone. They loved their evening walks together and visiting with all the Brethren on the road.

Margaret is survived by Mike, her loving husband, her daughter, Ginny Jones, 15 Grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, Mikes Daughter: Amy Quinn, and a wonderful host of family, brethren and friends.

Services will be held Wednesday August 5, 2020 at 2:00PM at Church of the First Born at Prairie View. officiated by Chuck Bashaw and Aaron Whitfield.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home Sulphur. Online condolences may be sent to www.dearmanfuneralhome.com
