The tornado damaged the photo pretty severely, but I'm glad we were at least able to preserve this much. Our house was a pile of toothpicks.

My name is Carol Madden.  My great grandmother is buried there.  Her headstone is almost illegible, it is a small, rectangle, flat stone that was hand made by my Grandpa, William Edgar Mixon. She was buried beside her family, the Potes family.  The stone says Mixon on it.  I think the date of death is 1884, and date of birth is 1840.  Her maiden name was Potes.

She died in childbirth when my grandpa was four years old, and he made the stone after he was a grown man.  I believe William & Sarah Potes were her parents, and Delbert was her brother.  My grandpa was named after his father, William.

She was of Choctaw descent.  The photo of her that is hand sketched with lead pencil.  The photo was in an elaborate hand carved wood frame that hung in our home when I was a child.  .  When I was 15, a tornado hit our house and we picked up pieces of the actual photo up in the pasture and glued it back together as best we could.
