Harvie Lee Saunders, a resident of Ardmore was born December 17, 1930 in Dougherty, Oklahoma to Charles and Etner Mae (Duncan) Saunders. He passed away Saturday March 29, 2014 at Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years 3 months and 12 days.
Harvie had lived in the Dougherty and Sulphur area most of his life; graduating from Dougherty High School. He had worked as a mechanic and as a school bus driver for many years for the Sulphur Public Schools. Harvie married Shirley Joan Haney on Dec. 17, 1955 and she preceded him in death on November 23, 1990. While in the military, Harvie served in the army and later the navy.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Charles "Creed" Saunders; Andrew John Saunders; Otis "Bo" Saunders; 2 sisters: Patsy Garland; Irene West; and an infant grandson.
Survived by his 3 daughters: Candy Fry, Kelly Hall and Sandy Blackmon, 3 sons: Kenneth Saunders, Danny Saunders and Gary Saunders, 1 brother: Orval Saunders, 6 sisters: Linda Spears, Betty Wilson, Lona Edwards, Jeanie Clelland, Mary White and Mildred Allen. 13 Grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild.
Graveside Services will be held Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at-Dougherty Cemetery officiated by Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. under the direction of DeArman's Clagg Funeral Home
