Maurice White, 76, a DeSoto resident for the last 12 years was born March 21,
1926 in Midlothian, Texas, passed away in DeSoto, Tx. on June 18, 2002.
Mr. White had owned an International Harvester Dealership in Durant, Ok., where
he also served as Mayor in the late 1960's, and a Ford Dealership in Cordell,
Ok., Veteran of WWII of the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater, he is a member
of Hampton Road Baptist Church and was a Deacon for many years in various
Baptist Churches in Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maudie White of DeSoto, daughters and
sons in law, Linda and Art Alexander of Dallas and Lesa and Jonathan Lewter of
Chesapeake, Va., grandchildren, Amy, Aaron and Andrew Alexander, David Jr., and
Hunter Groce, Zackary, Jacob and Ben Fleming, Lana Lewter, great grandson,
Garret Groce, brother, Harry Harwell White, Jr. of Irving, former sons in law,
David Groce and Ronnie Fleming. Services were held 2 p. m. Thursday, June 20,
2002 at Hampton Road Baptist Church, 400 N. Hampton Rd., DeSoto, Texas with Dr.
Jerry R. Raines and Rev. John Klappenbach, officiating. Interment followed at
Shiloh Cemetery in Ovilla, Texas. Pallbearers were David Beazley, Gene Chesney,
Claude Duke, Buddy Gibson, J. D. Harlin, Bud Herron, J. W. Hicks, Robby
Lasater, Curtis Sims, Charles White.
