Doyle Wayne Franklin, son of Doyle Morgan and Virgie Elizabeth (Hardin)
Franklin, was born November 27, 1925 at Cordell. He departed this life July 16
at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 76 years, seven months and 19
days.
Doyle had lived in this area most of his life. He had worked for Sewell
Brothers in road construction. He enjoyed fishing. For the past four years he
had lived in Weatherford, Hydro and Oklahoma City nursing homes as his health
declined.
Doyle was united in marriage to Patsy Alice Smith December 5, 1974 at Cordell.
To this union three children were born.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy in San Diego, CA
and Corregidor. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World
War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Jimmie Franklin and his wife
Patsy who died May 20, 2002.
Survivors include his three children: Keith Franklin of Tulsa, LaRena Guthrie
and husband Shaun of Burns Flat, and Terry Franklin of Tulsa; one sister,
Arlene Anderson of East Long Meadow, Massachusetts; one brother, Stanely Wade
Franklin of Kellyville, OK; four grandchildren, Madison, Christopher, Stefan
and Logan; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Doyle Franklin were held Friday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. at
Strickland Cemetery with Rev. Doyle Roark officiating. Burial, under the
direction of McClure Funeral Home followed.
