Claud Fite

Services for Claud Fite, 78, loved and respected father, grandfather, husband, World War II Veteran, Assistant County Extension Agent and school teacher were held Monday, May 13, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Council Road Baptist Church and interment immediately followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond, OK.
Claud Arley Fite was born October 27, 1923 in Rocky, Oklahoma. He is the son of Leonard Defay and Artive Audrey Fite. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glen Fite.
Claud is a graduate of Oklahoma State University A & M with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He received a Master of Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Claud served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant and foot soldier from May 31, 1944 until June 2, 1946.
When Claud walked into a public building, he never saw a stranger. He was respected and loved by his family and the community. As a former Assistant Oklahoma County Extension Agent for 12 1/2 years, he was in charge of poultry and worked with 4-H Club boys and girls, county fairs in the state and was Poultry Superintendent for all the Oklahoma State Fairs judging poultry.
He started the Putnam City Aggie's Little League Baseball (Kid's Sports Organization) through the YMCA, coached kid's baseball, officiated baseball and softball, and officiated as referee of many high school baseball, basketball, and football events.
Claud taught in the Oklahoma City Public School System for 17 years. He retired from Webster Middle School.
Associations he was active in are V.F.W., O.S.U. Alumni, U.C.O. Alumni, and the Oklahoma Educators Association. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club as Vice President.
Claud Fite is survived by his wife, Janice Fite; three children Dennis Claude Fite and wife Barbara of Norman, Sharon Lanette Holland and husband Daryl of Edmond and Amber Gwen Miller and husband Billy of Yukon; grandchildren Nathan B. Fite, Shauna l. Duerksen, R. Clayton Duerksen, Daryl Ray Holland II, Alisha R. Holland, Colin B. Miller, Mariah Pinkerton and husband Jordan, Zach Hope, Jason Holland, and Bradley Holland; and great grandchildren Jonah Pinkerton, three stepchildren, seven step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters Joe S. Fite, Troy D. and Mary Fite, Eda Lou and Bill Deutschendorf, Lil and Jim Cron, and Patricia and Glenn; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was a member of the Council Road Baptist Church.
