Ruthie Neoma Burrows

Ruthie Neoma Burrows was born October 4, 1913 in Lead Hill, Arkansas to Clara Melvina and Joseph Newton Cunningham. She passed away May 26, 2002 in her home, Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, seven months and 22 days.
Ruthie moved with her parents to the Grimes community. She attended school at Hope and New Liberty before she married Elmer Carl Burrows in Beckham County, Oklahoma on October 25, 1930. They lived their entire life in Beckham County. Ruthie moved into Sayre in 2000 to make her home. She loved to farm and was known for her cooking at the Whitehurst Grade School for several years. Ruthie loved to quilt with her ladies on Tuesday's and had made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She had received her 60 year pin from the Home Demonstration Club.
She was a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbad, five brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one great grandson.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Sayre First Baptist Church, officiated by A.L. Swagerty and Tom Cooksey. Burial will be at Delhi Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
She is survived by two daughters and Sons-In-Law Frances and B.J. Bonham of Abilene, Texas, Joy and Bob Baker of Dimmitt, Texas; four sons, Forrest Joe and Elgevia Burrows of Amarillo, Texas, Jerry and Katy Burrows of Cordell, Oklahoma, Vernon Burrows of Delhi, Oklahoma, Geary Don and Mary Burrows of Sayre, Oklahoma; one sister, Marie Swagerty of Amarillo, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
