GALATIA - Veria E. Streck, 97, died July 6, 2000 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus, Great Bend, Barton County, Kansas. She was born June 1, 1903 in Russell County, the daughter of Jacob and Pauline (Strecker) Steinert. A lifetime resident of the Galatia area, she was a homemaker. She belonged to the St.Paul's Lutheran Church, Galatia. On October 15, 1922, she married Phillip Streck in Russell County. He died February 28, 1984. Survivors include: a son, Dean Streck of Hesston, Kansas; three grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard; a brother, Herman; and three sisters: Bertha Decker, Elsie Hampton, and Amanda Dumler. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St.Paul's Lutheran Church, Galatia with the Rev. Shannon Tiller presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Nicholson-Riche Funeral Home, Hoisington, Kansas, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Galatia, Kansas. Memorials may be sent to the church in care of the funeral home.
