IN MEMORY OF MAUDE ALTA SMITHPETER 1905-1981
Maude Alta Smithpeter was born March 17th, 1895, in Macon County, Illinois. She died Friday, May 29th, 1981 at age 86. She came to Geary, Oklahoma in 1924, having previously lived at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She married Oliver Claude Smithpeter on November 25th, 1921 at Anadarko, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1956 in Geary. Her parents were George and Amanda Houser Jesse. She was a housewife, and also she and her husband were owners of Geary Telephone Company until 1951. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the Geary Community Nursing Home. Survivors include two daughters, Donice Rippetoe of Altus, Oklahoma, and Stella Sagerser of Edmond, Oklahoma; a son, Jesse Smithpeter of Geary; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Services were held in the First United Methodist Church, Geary, on Monday, June 1st, 1981 with Rev. Keith McKay officiating.
