Born June 27th, 1897 in Greenridge, Missouri to Frank and Frances (Ridenhour) Rukes, Charley William Rukes, 84, died Tuesday, May 26th, 1981 in an Okarchie, Oklahoma hospital. Dr. Richard P. Yaple officiated at funeral services held Thursday, May 28th, 1981 in the Geary First Christian Church. Interment was in the El Reno Cemetery under direction of Turner Funeral Home. He farmed in western Canadian County all his life and married Pearl Loretta Dorland on June 28th, 1919 in El Reno, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Geary First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Pearl, of the home near Geary; a son, Charles Dewayne of El Reno, Oklahoma; two brothers, Everett of Calumet, Oklahoma; and Russell of El Reno; four sisters, Vinora Austin of El Reno; Viola Dixon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Frankie Richardson and Maritte Curtis, both of Wagoner, Oklahoma; a grandson, and two great-grandchildren. A son, Merle Dale, preceded him in death in W. W. II. Memorial donations may be made to the Geary Nursing Home or to the Geary First Christian Church.
