ASHLAND WORKER DIES FROM ELECTROCUTION
ASHLAND - City workers here were saddened by the death of fellow employee Wayne Nusz, 53, on Thursday. Nusz, a line foreman, was working on electrical lines at the city baseball diamond when he come into contact with power lines shortly before noon Thursday. He was pronounced dead from electrocution later at Ashland District Hospital, said City Clerk Debra Fox. Another city employee was working with Nusz at the time, and Ashland emergency personnel responded immediately, she said. Nusz had worked for the city for 23 years during three different periods, beginning in 1964. He also had worked for the cities of Protection and Montezuma. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Ashland. Nusz is survived by his wife, Leona Nusz, five daughters and one son. ASHLAND - Wayne Edward Nusz, 53, died June 28th, 1990, at Ashland, Kansas. Born September 12th, 1936, at Okeene, Oklahoma, he married Leona Jantzen on April 1st, 1956, at Liberal, Kansas. An Ashland city lineman and foreman, he was an Ashland resident since 1964. He was a member of the Church of God, Ashland. Survivors include: his wife; mother, Olive Nusz, Okeene, Oklahoma; a son, Jonathon Nusz, Meade, Kansas; five daughters, Kathryn Lamb of Argonia, Kansas; Kristine Teer and Kelly Hefner, both of Dodge City, Kansas; Kimberly Nusz of Protection, Kansas; and Kerry Nusz, of the home; two sisters, Betty Smith of Hardesty, Oklahoma, and Naomi Singer of Liberal, Kansas; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with Tom Smith and Reverend Everett Jantzen officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ashland, Kansas. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Myatt Funeral Home, Ashland, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the church in care of the mortuary.
