NUSZ, HENRY 1865-1928
OBITUARY, Henry Nusz 1865-1928 - Henry Nuss was born in Russia on March 10, 1865. There he was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1887 he married Catherine Elizabeth Nuss and emigrated to America in the same year. He first settled in Marion, Kansas and after a stay of about 10 years came down to Oklahoma in 1897, and lived ever since in the vicinity of Okeene. For almost 30 years he lived on that place from which he was called to the Beyond. His wife who gave birth to eleven children, 8 sons and 3 daughters, died on January 6, 1917. Besides her, a son and a daughter preceded their father in death. In 1919 he married Mrs. Catherine Koch, nee Kison. The last years of his life were marked by steadily increasing body weakness. Four times he suffered a stroke, the last of which, in connection with pneumonia caused his death Sunday Morning, March 18, shortly before 9:00 o'clock at the age of 63 years and 8 days. This evening time of his life had drawn to a close and he had intended to move to town in the fall of the present year. But the All Creator who had prepared also for him a better home, took him to his reward. The bereaved ones are his wife, 7 sons, 2 daughters, 4 sisters, 1 brother, 24 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild; and besides these, many other relatives and friends and neighbors. May the Father of Mercies, and the God of us all, comfort who comeforth us in all our afflictions, comfort them with that hope of life which never faileth. The funeral services were held in the St.Johns Evangelist Church, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock. Interment took place in the Peaceful Cemetery southwest of town and Mr. Howley was the undertaker in charge. As printed in the "OKEENE RECORD" Friday, March 23, 1928, Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma.
SPECIAL NOTE: The OKEENE RECORD had spelled the last name of Henry and Catherine as "Nuss" but it should have been spelled "NUSZ". This obituary retrieved from microfilmed copy of the OKEENE RECORD, dated Friday, March 23, 1928 from the Oklahoma Historical Society by Great Grandson Robert Nusz on February 5, 2001.
