MADDUX, ZENE HOWARD 1898-1972
A longtime resident of Watonga, Zene Howard Maddux, 73, died April 27th, 1972 in Watonga, Oklahoma of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held April 29th at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Randolph officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Keller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The I.O.O.F. Lodge, of which Maddux was a member, held graveside services. Zene Maddux was born October 20th, 1898 in Lexington, Oklahoma the son of Mr. & Mrs. N. F. Maddux. He was married to Ella (Payne) Miller in Enid, Oklahoma December 24, 1955. He was employed as a parts man at Burrell Implement and Loewen Implement Company and was a caretaker at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Mrs. Leonard (Roberta) Stanley and his first wife Alice Bertrand. Survivors include his wife, Ella; his daughters, Ellen Englund of Central Point, Oregon and Zella Mae Shutler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his sons, James A Maddux of Vancouver, Washington, and Gayle T. Maddux of Bend, Oregon. Also two step-daughters, Ruth Huffman and Marge Williams, both of Enid, Oklahoma; and a stepson, Russell Miller of Portland, Oregon; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also his sisters: Mrs. Jim (Zella) Edsall of Watonga, Oklahoma; Mrs. Paul (Clytie) Gabriel of Wendell, Idaho; Mrs. Jay (Lora) Boswell of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Leroy (Ruth) Barker of Alden, Kansas; and his brothers: Leon Maddux of Ferndale, Washington and Roy Maddux of Watonga, Oklahoma.
