MARTENS, HENRY ISAAC, Sr. (1887-1959)
Services for Henry I. Martens, 71, were held at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Loyal Funk and Rev. Harry Moyer officating. Burial was in the Church of God Cemetery northwest of town under the direction of the Ingram Funeral Home. Martens died Wednesday at an Enid hospital following a serious illness of three weeks. A native of Marion County, Kansas, he moved to a farm northwest of Fairview in 1894, living there until his death. His survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of the home; five daughters: Catherine East, Westmont, New Jersey; Josephine Thiessen, Fresno, California; Rubena Sholtess, Bethany, Oklahoma; Justine Martin, Fairview; Henrietti Colvert, Enid; five sons: Isaac, Anthony, Kansas; Jake, Norwalk, California; Abe, Oakland, California; Don, Enid, Oklahoma; Henry Jr, Drummond, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Fast, Corvallis, Oregon; a half-brother, Cornelius Martens, British Columbia, Canada; three half-sisters: Anna Nusz, Fairview, Oklahoma; Justina Cornelsen, Cleo Springs, Oklahoma; and Mary Dell, Alberta, Canada.
