JANTZEN, LOUIS J. 1889-1924
Louis J Jantzen, formerly of Okeene, but who was living at Nowater, Oklahoma, received injuries in an accident Sunday morning January 20, 1924, which resulted in his death a few hours later. According to the information we received, Mr. Jantzen was building a fire and started to pour some coal oil in the stove from a five gallon can, containing about a half gallon of coal oil. The can exploded with great force, breaking all the windows in the room and blowing the dishes off of the table. Part of the can struck Mr. Jantzen in the stomach and it was thought that this was his fatal injury, although he was also badly burned. Mr. Jantzen was an ex-service man, serving a year in France. He was married and leaves one child besides his wife and other relatives. He was 34 years of age. The body was shipped to Okeene and funeral services held at the Lutheran Church today (Friday) at 1 p.m. As printed in the "OKEENE RECORD" Friday, January 25, 1924, Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma, 73763, U.S.A.
