JANTZEN, HENRY 1905-1986
Henry Jantzen died May 6, 1986, at Okeene Municipal Hospital at the age of 80 years. He was born May 19, 1905, at the farm home southeast of Okeene. He attended school at Pleasant Valley and Salt Creek County Schools. He also graduated from Business College at Lawton, Oklahoma. He worked at the State Guaranty Bank in Okeene for a time, but decided farming was what he wanted to do because of his love for the soil. He and Rachel Laubach were married April 20, 1927 in Okeene, Oklahoma and lived on their farm for 59 years. After retiring in 1976, he started woodworking for a hobby. He cut trees from his farm and made furniture and crafts. Besides being a successful farmer and a hard worker, he was a quite gentle man, devoting himself to the welfare of his family. He is survived by his wife, Rachel; two daughters and their husbands: Kenneth and Mildred Slaght of Okeene, Oklahoma, and Earl Gene and Dorothy Randolph of Enid, Oklahoma; one brother, Adolph of Hitchcock, Oklahoma; one sister, Lydia Johnson of Fresno, California; four grandchildren, Linda Taylor, Sandra Blehm, Kelly Merrifield, and Taylor Randolph; and three great grandchildren, Trevor Taylor, and Sarah and Henry Merrifield. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, ten brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services were held Friday May 9, 1986 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Okeene, Oklahoma. The Rev. Earle Metcalf of the Church of God officiated, using 1st Thessalonians 4:11,12 as part of the scripture reading. Music was by the Eck family of Fairview.
