IRION, AUGUST 1885-1968
August Irion was born May 13, 1885 in Marion County, Kansas and died February 7, 1968. He came to Okeene in 1909 and married Katie Herman, August 26, 1912 at Watonga. He had lived in the Okeene community since that time. He was one of the arly farmers of this community. Survivors are two daughters: Mrs. El Vina Boedecker of Enid, Oklahoma and Mrs. Dorma Lee Outhier, Okeene, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Alice Irion of Okeene, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. His wife preceded him in death last September and his son, Harron, died in 1963. He was an active member of the Methodist church. The Rev. John Rusco officiated at the funeral services, held February 9th, 1968 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church. Mrs. Harold Mechem, organist, Mrs. Clyde Ewing, pianist, Clyde and Raymond Ewing provided the music. Internment was in Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Keller & Landes Funeral Home. Honorary bearers were Harold Welch, Blake Grennell, Lewis Hamburger, Otto Grallman, O. E. Durham and Bert Holcomb. Active bearers were Jerry Westfahl, Pete Laubach, Leo Laubach, Otto Laubach, Weldon Geis and Clarence Bouse.
