FUNERAL NOTICE - HOFFMAN, MARY KATHERINE (WOLFE-NUSZ)
Funeral services for Mary Katherine Hoffman were held Friday, August 25. Short services were held at the home and then at the high school auditorium. Rev. Reiber assisted by Rev. I. J. Hesser, Pastor of the Christian Church, conducted the services. Burial was made in the Schafer Cemetery. The Howley Funeral Home was in charge.
HOFFMAN, MARY KATHERINE (WOLFE-NUSZ) 1858-1933
Mrs. Mary Hoffman, maiden name Wolf was born on May 2, 1858 in Dobrinki, Russia. She was united to George Peter Nusz in 1874. Fourteen children were born to them, 2 of the preceding their mother in death. Mrs. Hoffman immigrated to America with her former husband, George P. Nusz in the year 1886 and lived in Marion, Kansas. There she joined the church and was baptized by Brother Fisher. In 1892 sister Hoffman and her husband moved to Isabella, Oklahoma and settled on a homestead. Here they resided for several years and then moved on a farm near Okeene, Oklahoma. From there they moved to Okeene, where Mr. Nusz died in 1920. In 1925, Mrs. Nusz was united in marriage to Fred Hoffman, living in Okeene, Oklahoma. On February 2nd of this year, Mrs. Hoffman became very ill and after suffering for many months, she had a desire to go home to her maker. Mrs. Hoffman was a true Christian and a beloved mother. Through all her suffering she was stedfast in her belief. She prayed much and had the welfare of her children before God in prayer at all times. On August 23, 1933, when her pilgrimage came to an end, she closed her eyes in rest to again be living with those who preceded her. She leaves to mourn her husband, Fred Hoffman, 12 children, 57 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
