Headline: Mrs. Haffner Rites Today, Pioneer Passes Away After Brief Illness - Final rites are being conducted today, Thursday, December 30th at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Omega, for Mrs. Pete Haffner, who passed away at her home in Watonga, Monday, December 27. The deceased was born at Shumack, Russia, and was past 89 years of age at the time ofher passing. In February 1867 she was united in marriage to Pete Haffner, at Scharvokufka, Russia. To this union was born 9 children and in 1881 they migrated to the United States settling in Kansas. In 1891, they came to Oklahoma and settled in the Omega neighborhood, where they resided until retiring, then moved to Watonga. Mrs. Haffner leaves to mourn her loss: four sons, John of Watonga, Jake, Hitchcock; Charles, Los Angeles, California; Daniel, Portland, Oregon; five daughters; Mrs. John Weber, Watonga; Mrs. Jim Biehler, Omega; Mrs. M.V. Matson and Mrs. Sam Brown, El Reno; Mrs. Wm. Korgan, Oklahoma City. Elder Walter F. Specht was in charge of the services, with the Keller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was made in the Omega Adventist Cemetery. As printed in the "WATONGA REPUBLICAN", Thursday, December 30, 1943, Watonga, Blaine County, Oklahoma.
