HAFFNER, JOHN FREDERICK, 1864-1949
John Frederick Haffner ,eldest son of Godfrey and Elizabeth Haffner, was born January 14,1864, at Sharfagusta, Russia, and departed this life September 1, 1949, at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and 18 days , at his home in Canton, Oklahoma. At the age of 13 he came with his parents to America and settled in Marion County Kansas. There he grew to manhood where on January 25, 1885 , he married Anna Marie Rothe. In April 1892 he and his family came to Oklahoma and established a home near Omega, Oklahoma, then in 1916 he moved to Dewey County. To he and his wife, were born nine children, two sons preceeding him in death, Roy and Jesse. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Anna Marie Haffner; 2 sons; Carl of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and Clyde, of Canton, Oklahoma; 5 daughters; Mary Winter and Rachel Fipps of Hitchcock, Oklahoma; Hulda Prickett of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; Hannah Fetters of Watonga, Oklahoma; Oliva Pitts, of Enid, Oklahoma; one brother, Conrad Haffner, Cashion, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He united with his Seventh day Adventist church early in life. He was a loving father and husband. He was buried at Fountain Cemetery near Canton Oklahoma.
