HAAS, DAVID W. 1888-1952
LAST RITES HELD FOR DAVID W. HAAS -- Funeral services for David W. Haas were held Tuesday, August 12,1952 at 10:00 a.m. in the Zion Baptist Church. Rev. A. H. Hammons of Cushing and Rev. R. E. Wick were officiating ministers. Interment was in the Roselawn Cemetery with Keller and Landes Funeral Home in charge of arrangement. Dave had been a pioneer resident of this community, having come here in 1897 with his parents.

David W. Haas, son of Jake and Mollie Haas was born in Marion, Kansas on April 1, 1888 and passed away Saturday, August 9, 1952 at the age of 64 years, 4 months, and 8 days. He suffered a stroke. David came to Oklahoma with his parents in 1897 and settled near Okeene. In 1910, he was united in marriage to Mary Nusz. They moved on a farm southwest of Okeene. To this union two daughters were born: Helen (Haas) Metzler of San Diego, California; and Berneice (Haas) Emmons of Frederick, Oklahoma. Mrs. Haas passed away July 5, 1916. On February 28, 1917, he was united in marriage to Lydia Weigand. To this union were born 3 sons and 2 daughters: Raymond D. Haas of San Diego, California; Richard Haas of Los Angeles, California, Roy Haas and Lorene of the home; and Mrs. Darlene (Haas) Brown of San Diego, California. In 1947 they moved to Okeene where he resided until his death. Lydia Haas, his wife preceded him in death April 26, 1952. He also leaves to mourn 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 brothers and 5 sisters: Bill J. and Reuben Haas of San Diego, California, Harvey Haas of Concordia, Kansas, Mrs. Hannah (Haas) Schreiber of San Diego, California, Mrs. Rachel (Haas) Dickison of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Martha (Haas) Meier of Hillsboro, Kansas, Mrs. Ella (Haas) Leonard of Newton, Kansas, and Mrs. Ruth (Haas) Johnson of Wichita, Kansas, and a host of other relatives and friends. Early in life he was united with the Church of God and was a faithful Christian, beloved father, and husband and a kind friend to all.
