DAVE HAFFNER SUDDENLY DROPS DEAD
Dave Haffner, aged about thirty years, suddenly dropped dead in front of his home Tuesday evening November 20th, 1923, about six o'clock. Mr. Haffner was the deliveryman for several of the stores in Okeene. He had finished his days work and drove home. He put his delivery car in the garage and then walked around to talk to his brother-in-law, Cliff Miles, who was sitting in his car in front of the Haffner home. After talking a few minutes Mr. Miles got out of his car saying that he would have to crank the car and get on home. Mr. Haffner told him to get back in the car and he would crank it. He walked around in front of the car and started to take hold of the crank when he suddenly brought his hand to his throat, utter an exclamation, and fell over. A doctor was called immediately but Mr. Haffner was dead by the time he arrived. Heart failure was the cause of his death. Mr. Haffner had been in good health, except that he had been complaining of a pain in his neck the last few days. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Christian Church. As printed in the "OKEENE RECORD", Friday, November 23, 1923, Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma, 73763, U.S.A.
