FUNERAL NOTICE - HEFFEL, CARL 1896-1986
The funeral for Carl Heffel, 89, who died Tuesday, May 20, 1986 in Mesa, Arizona, following a period of ill health was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 23, 1986 in Okeene, Oklahoma, Rev. Bennet Peters officiated. Burial was at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Wilkinson Mortuary. Heffel was born November 8, 1986, in Dobrinka, Russia. At the age of 12, he moved with his parents to the United States, settling in Kansas where he attended schools. As a young man, he moved to the Okeene area and later became a United States citizen. On May 21, 1916, he and Sarah Karbs were married in Okeene. They farmed in that area until retirement in 1960. In 1975, they moved to Mesa, Arizona and in May of 1982, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. She died in October of that year. In February1984, he married Irene Carnett. Survivors include his wife, Irene of the home; four sons, Edward of Fairview, Oklahoma; Harold and Clarence, both of Mesa, Arizona, and Cletice of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters: Mrs. Dean (LaVonda) Maddox of Mesa, Arizona and Mrs. Al (Ruby) Carter of Waukomis, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
