GOFORTH, ROYCE E. 1930-2002
Royce E. Goforth died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, February 19th at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami. He was 71. Goforth was born May 8th, 1930 in Homestead, Oklahoma to Henry Floyd Goforth and Bertie Alma Walker Goforth. He graduated from Homestead High School in 1948 where he was active in Speech and Debate. He attended Central State College and was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges. He served in the Navy for 4 years. After graduating from OU he completed 3 years of Law School there. After partial recovery from a near fatal car accident he continued his education at Oklahoma City University where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree in 1966. He worked at City Service in Bartlesville and 19 years at Tinker Air Base in Midwest City. After retirement he moved to Miami, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Survivors include one sister and husband, Maxine and Dr. Clayton Wintermute of Rialto, California; five brothers and their wives, Bill and Gayle Goforth of Milburn, Florida, Duane and Alice Goforth of Miami, Oklahoma, Durwood and Betty Goforth of Okeene, Oklahoma, Gayle and Mary Goforth of Perry, Oklahoma, and Jerry and Carol Goforth of Miami, Oklahoma. A graveside service was held on Saturday February 23rd at the Homestead Cemetery, with the Rev. Troy Strader officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 200 B. Street N.W.
