BLEHM, HERBERT E. 1917-1998
DORRANCE - Herbert E. Blehm, 81, died November 30th, 1998 at his home in Dorrance, Kansas. He was born August 27th, 1917, in Russell County, Kansas, the son of Solomon and Mary (Meier) Blehm. A lifetime Dorreance resident, he was a farmer and oil field worker for Shields Drilling Company. He belonged to First Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 334, both at Dorrance, Kansas and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6240, Russell, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On May 30th, 1953, he married Mae Steponick at Russell, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Robert of Russell, Kansas; a stepson, Wilbur Crabb of Manhattan, Kansas; two granddaughters; a step-grandson; and three step-granddaughters. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church, Dorrance, Kansas, with Sister Diane Wagner presiding. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Mortuary, Wilson, Kansas, and 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Dorrance City Cemetery with military honors performed by American Legion Post No. 334. Memorials may be sent to the church in care of the mortuary.
