Funeral services were held Friday, May 1st, 1981 for Carrie Belle Baird, who died in Watonga, Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 28th, 1981 at age 91. Born to John W. and Abbie Jane Grant, January 18th, 1890 at Rodney, Iowa, she moved to the Watonga area while very young. She was a resident of the Watonga and Fay communities for a number of years. She had also lived in San Antonio, Texas, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and then in Watonga for the last several years. She had attended the Filo rural school when she was young. She was a member of the Christian Church at Yukon, Oklahoma. She married Guy Berte Baird at Fairview, Oklahoma on August 24th, 1910, and they became the parents of six children. She was preceded in death by her husband, two of her children who died in their early years, one grand daughter, one grandson, and a great-grandchild, as well as her parents. Walton Beach, Florida; two daughters: Virgie Powers of Watonga, Oklahoma; and Mildred Dalke of Yukon, Oklahoma; one brother: Dewey Grant of Clark, Missouri; a sister, Elsie Trim of Watonga, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Bob Davis officiated at the rites in the Watonga Christian Church, and services were conducted at the Pinkerton Cemetery, southwest of Watonga under the direction of Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga.
