Lorine (Chisholm) Hammontree

Funeral services for Lorine Hammontree were June 2 at the Weogufkee Cemetery near Hanna. Rev. Randy Zinn officiated.

Ms. Hammontree was born Aug 11, 1920 in Hanna to George Chisholm and Lydia Smith Chisholm and died May 30 in Okemah at the age of 87.

Ms. Hammontree was raised in the Hanna area. She attended grade school at the Eufaula Indian Boarding School and continued her education in the Hanna school system, from which she graduated.

As a young lady she was married to Marvin Hammontree in 1938 in Hanna. They made Hanna home, and farmed and raised cattle while he worked as a carpenter. They relocated to Dustin in 1969.

She was a long-time member of the Dustin Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved to read, especially her bible. and enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Internment was at the Weogufkee Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka and Weleetka.
