On April 20, 1970, Leroy Andrew Johnson, Sr., was born to Ella Jo
Johnson and William Andrew Baskin in Muskogee, OK.
At an early age, he accepted Christ into his life, where he was
baptized by Rev. James McDaniels. He united with the Mt. Zion
Baptist Church, remaining a member there until his death. He served
on the Usher Board and was a member of the Choir during his
formative years.
Affectionately referred to as "L. J.", Leroy attended Muskogee
Public Schools, where he graduated with the Class of 1989 at
Muskogee High School.
On August 24, 1989, he met Terri Cunningham and 3 children were born
from this union. After 15 years, this relationship was dissolved and
he met Shayna, and their relationship produced 5 children.
Leroy was a union steward at Zapata Industries until the company
relocated. He then opened a paint and body shop and also worked for
Network Logistic Solutions, Inc., where he became a
lead-man/supervisor and remained until his death.
After 38 seasons, Leroy Andrew Johnson surrendered his soul on
Monday, August 18, 2008 from Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death
by his grandparents, Eligh and Erma Baskin, and Rhea W. Ellis, 3
great uncles and 2 great-aunts.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; Terri Cunningham, of the
home; his children, Le'Anndria, Adrianna, D'Alexandria, Leroy Jr.,
Shalecia, Alerianne, Latavia and Latavion Johnson, all of Muskogee,
Oklahoma; his parents, William and Ella Baskin; a brother, Jerry
Jolly; an aunt, Betty Striblen, Rentiesville, Oklahoma; an uncle,
Ellis Baskin, Seguin, Texas; sister-in-law, Latreva [Elliot]
Ethridge, Rentiesville, Oklahoma; his brother-in-law, Herbert [Vannessa]
Wilkerson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with other relatives and friends.
The final tribute will be on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.
in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. David Ragsdale, Jr., Pastor,
will officiate.
The Christian Committal will follow in
Honey
Springs Cemetery at
Rentiesville, OK. "L. J." will slumber in repose at the Keith D.
Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Sunday from 12 Noon to 3 PM.
