TREADWELL, Michael “Mike” Floyd, 72, passed away November 25, 2014.  Mike was born July 8, 1942 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to J. L. and Ruth Emma (Dickover) Treadwell.  On January 31, 1964, Mike married Bobbye Jean Colburn of Checotah, Oklahoma.  

Mike received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University, as well as US Command and General Staff College, and US Army Engineer Basic and Advanced Course.  After 37 years, Mike retired as a Colonel with the Army National Guard and was inducted into the Military Hall of Fame in Ft. Benning, Georgia.  He had a career with the Rural Electric Cooperative beginning in Vinita, Oklahoma at KAMO, CREC in Stillwater, Oklahoma and eventually was the manager at REC in Lindsey, Oklahoma for 18 years.  During his tenure at REC, he was elected as President of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

After his career with Rural Electrification, he began his career as a mentor for the Afghan Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense as Director of Financial Management and Facilities.  During the next eight years of his 2nd career, he worked in Baghdad, Kabul, Singapore, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia.  During his military career, he commanded the Oklahoma Army National Guard 120th Engineer Combat Battalion.  The 120th was Oklahoma’s largest Battalion and he prepared those soldiers and many more for their eventual combat role in the Global War on Terrorism.

Mike was an avid OU Football fan and a season ticket holder for over 40 years.  He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.  

Mike was preceded in death by his parents J. L. Treadwell and Ruth Emma Treadwell.

He was a loving husband, father and granddad to eight grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife Bobbye of 50 years; daughters Amy Kidd and husband Mark of Vinita, Melissa Parry and fiancé Ed Nelson of Edmond, Amanda McCreary and husband Scott of Edmond; grandchildren Carter and Chandler Kidd of Vinita, Jane

Anne and Ella Parry of Edmond, Mitchell, Kendall, Kennedy and Mallie McCreary of Edmond.  He is also survived by his sister Joanna Ranck of Oklahoma City, brother Jeff Treadwell of Oklahoma City; nieces Jenny Brosius and husband Dave of Oklahoma City, Katie Treadwell of Lawrence, Kansas, Emily Canfield and husband Matt of Derby, Kansas.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday, November 28 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.  Services are 2:00 PM Saturday, November 29 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 1, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.
