Louie Dean Sevier, surrounded by his adoring family, met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the age of 86.

He was born on Sunday, May 3, 1936 to Louis "Buster" and Gerty (Henderson) Sevier.  

Louie Dean was born in a town once known as Richardsville, OK which now currently sits underwater of Lake Eufaula. He grew up in Hitchita, OK and graduated from Midway High in 1954.  

After high school, he enlisted in the Army where he served a two-year term in Chicago, IL. After returning back home, he noticed a beautiful woman walking down the street, he told his friends "I am going to marry that girl." On his birthday, May 3, 1958 he married his bride, Joyce (Hart) Sevier in Henryetta, Oklahoma. They spent their 63 years together in Yukon, Hitchita, and Checotah, OK. Louie was co-vice president of Locke Supply for 50 years after retiring in 2011. His family and job were his passion; co-workers and friends turned into family. His heart was filled with love, kindness, and forgiveness. Anyone who knew him felt his presence and genuineness. He was the definition of a good & Godly man. Louie & Joyce, were faithful members of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma. Louie loved coaching his daughter's softball teams, watching OU Sooner football, loved Sooner Softball, mowing, being on his tractor, working cows, hanging award winning Christmas lights, and spending time with his soul mate, Joyce.

Louie Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gerty Sevier; his bride, Joyce Sevier; a son, Stephen Dean Sevier; grand-daughter, Paige Lee Kindell.

Louie Dean is lovingly survived by daughters, Deana Joy Hine of Checotah, and Kimberly Miller of Hichita; one son, Matthew Phillips (Sara and her mother Diana McKay) of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Jacob Kindell of Hitchita, Jared Kindell (Mariah) of Hitchita, Ted Cameron Hine of Muskogee and Adam Hine (Amber) of Muskogee; Great grandchildren, Lincoln Dean Hine, Abigail Hine, Avery Hine, Claire Kindell, Preston Lee Kindell, Elliott May Kindell, and Allie Paige Kindell. Anna Purdon of Hillsboro, OR. along with Vince and Lisa Ellis, Easton and Dalton Ellis. Louie Dean was a people person that spent his life devoted to the ones he loved. He left behind a legacy on how to be a servant of Christ. He has touched many lives and left everlasting memories for us all. He will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be 9AM to 6 PM Monday, April 17, 2023, at Garrett Family Funeral Home, 311 SW 2nd Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.

Services celebrating the life of Louie Dean are scheduled for 12PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in Midway High School Gym, Council Hill, Oklahoma, with Reverend Mark Shores and Pastor Dee Couch, ministering. Committal Prayers, Military Honors and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett.

Matthew Phillips, Jacob Kindell, Jared Kindell, Ted Hine, Adam Hine, Lincoln Hine, Chad Rodgers, Ronnie Hill, Vince Ellis will serve as Casket bearers. Bob Wilson, Chuck Cross, James Woods, Tisha Fennell, Tammi Bryant, Easton and Dalton Ellis will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.

Military Honors rendered by the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard.
