Grace Memorial Chapel

Yvonne Montgomery passed away in Oklahoma City on Friday morning, August 30, 2019 at the age of 81.  She was born on March 29, 1938 to Thurman and Ethel (Hollaway) Green in Checotah, Oklahoma.
 
Yvonne grew up in the Checotah area attending Checotah Public School.  In 1957 at the age of 19, Yvonne moved to Ponca City.  It was here that she met the love of her life, Tome F Montgomery.  They married in 1957 and spent 62 wonderful years together before Tome passed in 2004.  Together they had six children; Dorothy, Tome Jr, Esther, Brenda, Maxine and LaRoseia.  Yvonne was an awesome homemaker and wonderful mother.  While running her household she found time to attend and host numerous Tupperware and Avon parties.  Her favorite past time was bowling.  She bowled on many local bowling league teams and did quite well.  Yvonne’s religious believes were very important to her and she has been a member of the Osage Heights Baptist Church for many years.
 
Left to mourn her loss are her children; Dorothy and husband David Barrow, Tome Montgomery, Jr, Esther Bales, Brenda Benson and Maxine Epperly, 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren as well as a set of twins who are her niece and nephew.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband; Tome Montgomery, daughter; LaRoseia Appleton, great grandchildren; Hailey, Jonathon, William, Tyler and Asa, sister; Carolyn and brother; Virgil.
 
There will be a time of visitation for Yvonne on Tuesday, September 3rd, until 8pm at Grace Memorial Chapel, 2016 N 14th St, Ponca City, Oklahoma. 

A funeral service will be held in her honor Wednesday, September 4th, at 9:00am with Reverend Herald Hutchins presiding at Grace Memorial Chapel. 

Yvonne will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma at 2pm that afternoon.
