Edward Ray "Ray Bob" Lane, 67, lifetime resident of Muskogee, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

He was born February 14, 1947 to Franklin W. and Alice (Goodhart) Lane in Muskogee. He grew up and attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1965. Following his high school graduation, he then enlisted in the United States Army. Edward proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in July of 1972.


Upon returning home after his military service to the United States, Edward enrolled in at Indian Capital VoTech, where he studied drafting. He then attended Connors State College in Warner, where he received an Associate's Degree. Edward worked for the City of Muskogee Water Department for several years before his retirement.

Edward, also known as "Ray Bob" by his close family and friends, was an avid fisherman. He really enjoyed going fishing, especially for catfish. His family also recalls how much he enjoyed playing card games. Blackjack and poker were his two favorite games.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Lane.

Edward is survived by his son, Thomas Lane and fiancé Tiffany of Ozark, Missouri; his daughter, Annie Lane and fiancé Rob of Ozark, Missouri; his grandchildren, Ella Mae Lane and Kyler Lane both of Ozark, Missouri; his mother, Alice (Goodhart) Lane of Muskogee; his brother, Tom Lane of Muskogee; his sister, Frankie Marie Lane of California; and numerous other members of the family.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Comb's
Honey Springs Battlefield Cemetery in Rentiesville with Clergy Allen Lawson officiating.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
