Funeral services for Kenneth Ray McDonald will be held on Monday July 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan, OK. Timothy McDonald will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Battiest Cemetery in Battiest, OK. Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm. before the service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017. Kenneth passed away on June 26, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 74.

Kenneth Ray McDonald was born March 14, 1943 in Battiest, OK to Harley Wilson and Marguerite Mae (Stiles) McDonald. He served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. Kenneth married Norma Lou Nelson on March 25, 1967 in Cloudy, OK. He had lived in Harrah, OK for the past thirty-one years, after moving there from Laramie, WY, where he lived for one year. Prior to that he and his bride lived and raised their children in Louisville, CO. Kenneth worked as a postman for the United States Postal Service. He also owned and operated Gunsmith Sporting Goods from 1979-1983. After retirement from the Postal Service, he worked for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, where he worked as “the postman”, managing the shipping and receiving department. He was a member of the Lifechurch in Shawnee, OK, and the National Rifle Association. In his prime, Kenneth served as a deacon in his church, and also served as a youth leader. He was a steward for the union while he worked for the United States Postal Service. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, water skiing, reloading ammo, tying flies, raising chickens and other livestock, and collecting coins. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Marguerite; Norma’s parents, Willie and Helen; grandson, Christopher; nephew, Scott; brother and sister, Vernon and Frances; and brother Virgel.


Kenneth is survived by his wife, Norma McDonald of the home in Harrah, OK; two sons, Michael McDonald of Harrah, OK and Keith Rains of Humble, TX; two daughters, Kenda Smith and Angela McDonald both of Harrah, OK; seven grandsons, Timothy McDonald, Brandon McDonald, Ethan Allen, Gage Allen, Jeremy McDonald, Dylan McDonald, and Garrett McDonald; four granddaughters, Adrienne McDonald, Jaid Allen, Stephanie McDonald and Jada Smith; one great grandfairy, Lilith Brooklyn Allen; brothers, Jerry McDonald and wife, Barbara, Steve McDonald and wife, Betty, Al Nelson and David Nelson; sisters, Barbara Kolpin, Debi Nelson, Sylvia Nelson and Lavenda Nelson; an overwhelming amount of beloved nieces and nephews whom he adored, other family members; and a host of friends.
