David leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years Louise; Children, Debbie Stockton, David and wife Cynthia Wolf, Kimberly and husband Lloyd Sanders; eight grandchildren Caleb B. Sanders, Katherine Louise Wolf, Justin Baker, Lori Baker, Zack Stockton, Cody Stockton, Charla Baker, Tara Baker'Clerc and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Travis Sanders.
David was better known as Buzz Barton, a name that was selected by his
grandmother just prior to signing on in 1972 at WNAD (the name “Buzz Barton” had
been used as an alias by David's father J.W. in his younger days). Buzz was a
much loved, central Oklahoma radio personality, working at KOMA, KXY, and WNAD
just to name a few. For years, in the Oklahoma City radio market people began
their day with “Buzzin Buzz your kissin Cuz”. Early in his career Buzz was able
to star alongside Tim Holt in the Movie “This Stuff'll Kill Ya!” directed by
Hershchell Gordon Lewis. He wrote and recorded a record titled “Old Man's
Dream” at Carl and Bob's music store in Norman.
David enjoyed fishing, his family and music; he was always delighted to track
through a new album listening for the next big hit. A quote that was often
heard in David's later years was “If I knew I was going to live this long I'd of
taken better care of myself” while it was followed by laughter, he also knew it
to be true.
Graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m.,Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at
the Washington Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his grandson Travis.
Arrangements for David and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice
Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Online condolences may be
