Gerald D. Ward, age 76 of Purcell passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 in Lexington. He was born March 13, 1939 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was one of 7 children born to William J. Ward and Lora Ann (Alsobrook) Ward. Gerald attended Chickasha schools for a while then as a teenager he began working on a ranch in Texas. He was later drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country for 3 years. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Gerald began working for the Randall Sharp Oilfield Company in Okla. City where he later became superintendent over oilfield crews. During this time he traveled all over Oklahoma and the surrounding states. Gerald’s hobby was working with leather, making beautiful purses, chaps and belts. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and a dear friend. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, William & Lora Ward; 5 Brothers and Sisters, Step Daughter, Teresa Thacker He is survived by: Wife, Joyce Ward of Purcell; Two Sons, Gerald Ward Jr. of Tulsa, Nelson Ward of TX; Two Daughters, Robin Ward of Newcastle Michelle Hulsey of Columbus, Georgia; One Sister, Reba Silvis of Painsville, Ohio; Stepchildre Paul Janis and wife Glenna of Altus, Jani Leah Young and husband Scott of Altus, Judy Lance and husband Steve of Altus, Tamra Phelan and husband John of Mt. Park, Dwayne Janis wife Sheri of Altus, Jesse Janis of Altus; Step Son-in-Law: Leander Thacker of Altus; Five grandchildren and one great grandchild, 14 Step-grandchildren, 23 Step-great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 3rd, 2015 at the Washington Cemetery, Washington, Oklahoma under the directions of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Send online condolences @ wilsonlittle.com
