William Harl “Willie” Vaughn age 51 of Purcell passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 following an automobile accident. He was born on January 2, 1965, in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of three sons born to Jimmy Ray Vaughn and Betty Lou (Hackney) Vaughn. Willie was a graduate of the class of 1983 from Washington High School and was a lifetime resident of the Washington-Woody Chapel area. Willie grew up on a dairy farm and haying operation with his family. As a young boy he learned how to operate a John Deere tractor, drive a hay truck and ride a motorcycle. When time away from the dairy farm would allow him to get away, Willie enjoyed going to the lake, fishing and skiing with family. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing music and singing with his friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Jimmy Ray and Betty Lou Vaughn of Woody Chapel; Grandparents, William Claude “Bill” Vaughn and Ruby (George) Vaughn of Woody Chapel; Willie Dee Hackney and Lou Ada (Hall) Hackney of Purcell-Dibble area.
He is survived by: Two sons, William Troy Bates and wife Shannon of Tahlequah, OK, Justin H. Vaughn of Broken Arrow, OK; Two brothers, Johnny Vaughn and wife Lorri of Norman, OK, Steve Vaughn and wife Debbie of Washington, OK; Three grandchildren, Devin and Bradley Bates of Seminole, OK, Emma Bates of Tahlequah, OK; Five aunts and uncles, Don Croy of Lodi, CA, Tom Hackney and wife Betty of Chickasha, OK, Cordelia Estes of Purcell, Hazel Arnold of Purcell, Jean Sawyer of Enid, Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.
Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery.
