Johnnie “JT” Thomas III age 63, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Norman Regional Hospital. Johnnie was born March 26, 1952 in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of two children and the only son of Johnnie G. Thomas Jr. and Dorothy Ann (Blair) Thomas. Johnnie grew up in Washington until the age of 10. He then went to live in the Pauls Valley State School for the next 51 years. In 2013 the home closed and Johnnie was relocated to a new group home in Paoli. For 53 years, Pauls Valley and Paoli was his home away from home, and the staff and residences became his extended family. Even though Johnnie’s family lived in Washington they still made weekly visits to see him and to spent time with him. Johnnie looked forward seeing his parents, his sister and his niece. They enjoyed taking him for car rides in the country, spoiling him with Hershey’s chocolate and playing games with him. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle and sweet personality. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
