Mr. Taylor died at the age of 76 years 11 months 8 days. Funeral services
were held at Wadley's Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Justin Blankenship
officiating.
Richard, born to David Herbert and Verda Cleo (Hill) Taylor, was raised in
Washington, graduating in 1953, holding a 5 year record for most points
scored his senior year.
Inducted into the US Army on October 11, 1954, he served his country proudly
and was honorably discharged on October 4, 1956.
A graduate of Central State University, Edmond, OK, with a Bachelors degree
in Sports and History, he worked on his Master's at OSU, Stillwater.
On June 7, 1958, Richard and Dolores Jean Keeler were united in marriage in
Okemah, OK.
Richard taught school in Ponca City for a few years before accepting a job
with the Civil Service living in Austin, TX, IN and Tinker Air Force Base,
OKC. His job as a Procurement officer included the purchase and maintenance
of the Presidential fleet of aircraft including Air Force One. He retired
from civil service while working in Japan.
He and Jean enjoyed traveling with their fifth-wheel through 46 states. He
enjoyed serving the Lord, Washington sports, golfing, pool, singing and
singing with a quartet with his sister, Shirley, and cousins, Jim and Keith
Bratcher, Bible study and Sunday school. He was a member of the Purcell
Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Brian Keith Taylor; siblings,
Jerry "Buddy" Taylor and Shirley Alexander; brother-in-law, Carl Davis;
nephews, Ronnie "Ronson" Alexander and Steve Davis.
Survivors include his wife Jean; daughter, Lori Hardcastle; 5 grandchildren,
Steve and Cierra Taylor, Chelsea Thomas, and Kyle and Taylor Hardcastle; 2
great-grandchildren, Kinlee Taylor and Zachery Hawk Thomas; sister, Norma
Lee Davis; sister-in-law, Phyllis Taylor; and brother-in-law, Ron Alexander.
