Emma Stone, age 88 of Oklahoma City, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Emma Faye Cunningham was born March 13, 1935 in Wayne, OK, the baby of four children born to Roy Allen Cunningham Sr and Lillie Mae (Ballard) Cunningham. She was raised primarily in Wayne, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1954.
By chance, she met a young man from Purcell named Curtis Amber Stone. He was working at the meat counter in the grocery store when he noticed her, and the rest as they say is history. Emma married Curtis on June 4, 1956 in Washington. Together they raised two sons, twins Robert and Ronald. Emma worked a variety of jobs throughout the years, mainly clerical and office.
They lived in Moore for 30 years, and while there attended Regency Park Baptist Church. In 1989, they moved to Newcastle and served at Woodland Hills Baptist Church. Now retired, they settled in Port Aransas, Texas to be closer to her sister, Mildred. At this time, Emma worked for the Chamber of Commerce, while Curtis worked for Bilmore’s Hardware, and they both greatly enjoyed their work. They loved living by the ocean and taking long walks together on the beach, collecting sea shells. By 2005, they settled back in Oklahoma City to be closer to their sons and began attending Southern Hills Baptist Church.
When they could, Curtis and Emma Faye traveled to Disneyland and Disneyworld, and made the trip a total of 29 times. She was a woman of great faith; a gifted singer and she loved singing the old gospel hymns. She was an avid collector and enjoyed working puzzles, both crossword and jigsaw. Emma was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a special aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Curtis Amber Stone; her parents, Roy Sr and Lillie Mae Cunningham; two sisters, Jewel Andrews and Mildred Gray and her brother, Roy Allen Cunningham Jr.
Emma is survived by: her boys, Robert Stone and wife Brenda of OKC and Ronald Stone and wife Diana of Norman; Five grandchildren, Jared Stone and wife Julia of Blanchard, Drew Stone of Okla. City, Deann Stone of Okla. City, Dru Watkins of Moore and Chase Watkins of Norman; Two great granddaughters, Autumn and Sadie; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday in Purcell.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 31, 2023, at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Okla. City. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com.

Funeral services for Curtis Stone will be 1:00pm Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at Southern Hills Baptist Church in south OKC.
Burial will be at Washington Cemetery. arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Curtis Amber Stone age 82, of Oklahoma City went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Sept.18, 2017. During his final days, Curtis had been cared for by the compassionate staff at the OKC, VA Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Curtis was born, September 23, 1934, in Atoka, Oklahoma. He was the older of two sons born to James Amber Stone and Clara Levene (Welty) Stone. Curtis grew up in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School with the class of 1953.
One year later on May of 1954, he joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country for two years during the Korean Conflict. Most of his time was spent aboard the U.S.S. League Island Supply Ship in the area of the Philippines, Japan and China.
One month after being honorably discharged Curtis married the love of his life Emma Faye Cunningham of Wayne, OK. They were married on June 4, 1956, in Washington, Oklahoma and later raised twin sons, Ronald and Robert. It was hard to just say Curtis without saying Curtis and Emma Faye. They were inseparable.
Curtis worked in the trucking industry for 37 years in the OKC area. During that time he worked for truck lines including, Leeway, Jones, Graves and Beaver Express. Curtis and Emma Faye lived in Moore for 30 years where they were faithful members of Regency Park Baptist Church. There Curtis served as an usher, a greeter and taught Sunday school for many years. From 1989 ~ 1993, Curtis and Emma Faye moved to Newcastle and became members of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. It was there Curtis was ordained as a deacon.
After retiring in 1993, Curtis and Emma Faye moved to Port Aransas, Texas to be close to Emma Faye’s sister, Mildred. While living there they attended the First Baptist Church and Curtis worked part-time for Bilmore’s Hardware Store. For 12 years he enjoyed living by the ocean and taking long walks on the beach. He enjoyed picking up sea shells and entertaining family and friends who would come down to visit them while on vacation.
Curtis and Emma Faye moved back to OKC in 2005, to be close to their sons and their families. He was currently a member at Southern Hills Baptist Church.
For many years Curtis and Emma Faye enjoyed going to Disneyland and Disneyworld and made a total of 29 trips. In 2014, Curtis was honored as the Veteran of the Day and was recognized during a special ceremony at Disneyworld.
Curtis will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He always had a great sense of humor and a great smile.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, James and Clara Stone; Brother, William Darrell Stone.
He is survived by: Wife of 61 years, Emma Faye of the home in OKC. Twin sons, Robert Wade Stone and wife Brenda of OKC, Ronald Wayne Stone and wife Diana of Norman; Five grandchildren, Jared Stone and wife Julia of Blanchard, Drew Stone and Deann Stone of OKC, Dru Watkins of Moore, Chase Watkins of Norman. Two great granddaughters, Autumn and Sadie Stone.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Southern Hills Baptist Church in south OKC. Interment will be at Washington Cemetery, Washington, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8pm Wednesday evening in Purcell.
