Jerry Wayne Self, 70, of Blanchard, passed away suddenly on November 29, 2022. The son of Dee Oliver Self and Elsie Mae (Bailey) Self, Jerry was born on December 9, 1951, in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy from 1971-1975 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a jet engine mechanic on the A6 Intruder aboard the USS Enterprise. Jerry just recently was acquainted with an old Navy buddy, Ernie Barnett, after 46 years. While in the Navy, Jerry also earned his GED. Jerry married Cindy Noyes on February 14, 1981. He was a proud member of the Blanchard VFW and served on the honors team. Jerry worked as a truck driver for Total Petroleum for several years. He then went to work for the City of Newcastle in the Water Works Department.
Jerry’s hobbies included fishing, going to car shows, antiquing, and most recently making large wooden crosses that he would give to people. This was just an example of how he showed people that he loved them. He would always take time to hear people’s stories and would help anyone who needed it. Jerry had the biggest, kindest heart. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
