Jo Ann Owen age 75 of Purcell, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 1014 at O.U.
Medical Center in OKC. She was born May 29, 1938 in Wayne. She was the youngest
child of five children born to Leroy Glenn Marcum and Ruth (Freeman) Marcum. Jo
Ann grew up a country girl living in the Washington community. She attended the
Washington schools graduating with the class of 1956. After high school she
started her life long career in medical records by going to work at the McCurdy
Clinic in Purcell. After the Purcell Hospital was built in 1970 Jo Ann worked
there until she went to work for Dr. Faris in 1994 as his office manager. She
retired in 2005 after working nearly 45 years. Jo Ann married the love of her
live, Billy Owen on August 16, 1957 in Washington, OK. After they married they
first lived in Goldsby for six years. Then in 1966 they moved to a farm east of
Washington. Jo Ann and Billy worked side by side on the farm as their second
jobs. She loved living in the country and enjoyed working with Billy raising
cattle and farming. She also was a wonderful homemaker and cook, she loved
decorating her home spending time with her family. Jo Ann was a member of the
Washington First Baptist Church and she will be greatly missed by her family and
all those that knew her.
She was preceded in death by: Parents: L.G. and Ruth Marcum, Two
brother-in-laws: Robert C. Hall Jr. and Bronell Ratliff, One niece: Marcia
Lynn Tadlock, One nephew: Robert C. Hall III,
She is survived by: Husband of 56 years; Billy Owen of the home, Two
sisters: Louise Ratliff of Norman, Virginia Hall of Plano, TX, Two brothers:
Leroy Marcum and wife Laquawanna of Norman, Billy Ray Marcum and wife Cherie
of Purcell, One aunt: Georgia Hubbard of Del City, And many loving nieces,
nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the First
Baptist Church in Washington. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the OMRF, Lymphoma Cancer
research. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
