Larry Joe McAlister age 70 of Washington, passed away Wednesday, December 04, 2013 in Norman. He was born November 16, 1943 in Chickasha, OK. He was the youngest of three sons born to Paul Leroy McAlister and Frances Evelyn (Weatherford) McAlister. Larry grew up a country boy where he learned how to work hard. He attended Washington schools and graduated with the class of 1961. Larry loved being outdoors and working with his hands. He loved it so much that he made farming his lifelong profession. For the past 50 years, Larry farmed and ranched west of Washington on his family home place. Larry first married in February of 1962, marrying Beverly Owen; together they raised two sons, Chris and Paul Darrin. He later married Judy Madden in July of 1974 and to this union a son, Corey was born. Years later on April of 1985 he married Kathy Sanford and together they raised two daughters, Tina and Kristi. Larry was a good father and worked hard to provide for his family. He taught his children many valuable life lessons that will remain with them throughout their lives. He was a “Master Fixer” and could fix anything out of bailing wire and a pair of pliers. Larry had many hobbies and they all were farming. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and all those that knew him.

He was preceded in death by: Parents: Paul and Frances McAlister, Son: Chris Alan McAlister, Infant brother: Junior McAlister, Niece, Cathy Lynn McAlister,

He is survived by: Four children: Paul Darrin McAlister of Purcell, Corey McAlister and wife April of Purcell, Tina May and husband J.D. of Pauls Valley, Kristi Merrill and husband Mike of OKC, Brother: James McAlister and wife Kay of Tulsa, Six grandchildren: Khyla Hawkins, Thomas Merrill, Noah Merrill, Jonathan May, Bailey McAlister and Allie McAlister. Two nieces: Sheri Lyn Penner of Harrah, Tanya Lyn Stephens of Edmond, Also several cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 9, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery.
